DUI VICTIM CENTER OF KANSAS GOALS: - Ensure a formal community response to DUI crime victims throughout Kansas.
- Instill the dangers and hazards of consuming alcohol at a young age.
- Help victims, families, and friends overcome physical, emotional, and monetary trauma caused by a drunk driver.
- Instill into the minds of drivers, to always make the right choice when they consume alcohol.
- Educate and inform offenders about the consequences of drinking and driving, thereby reducing the amount of repeat offenders.
- Provide the victim's voice for educational, prevention, law enforcement, and intervention programs.
- Utilize and increase office technology.
- Provide opportunities for the community to work towards the agency's mission.
DUI VICTIM CENTER OF KANSAS OBJECTIVES: - We will make DUI Victim Panels available to area schools as requested.
- We will provide a minimum of once a week Victim Panels for sentencing of DUI offenders.
- We will provide Hispanic Panels to offenders whose primary language is Spanish three times a year.
- We will successfully conduct the Annual Fourth Grade Poster Billboard contest as a youth prevention program to at risk local elementary schools, in collaboration with Communities in Schools. This will be sponsored by a local business.
- We will maintain DUI Victim Panels as currently established in Wichita, Great Bend, McPherson, Newton, El Dorado, Wellington, Dodge City, & Emporia. Future locations will open as available.
- The VOICE Newsletter will be published quarterly and mailed to the master list inclusive of victims, volunteers, businesses, law enforcement, etc.
- We will maintain and develop the agency website to be inclusive of The VOICE, Court Watch, Special Events, and fundraising on line opportunities.
