How often are we asked to make a financial contribution support of a mission to serve people in need? We make the contribution and the much-needed funds are spent or distributed--helping people through difficulty. At the DUI Victim Center of Kansas we assist those who live with the tragic aftermath of another person's drunk and impaired driving. Even though our services help with the day-to-day existence of a family left without a loved one and adjustment to a new lifestyle following serious injury, the victims will always remember what can never be again. Through your gift of a scholarship - "Gift of Remembrance" - loved ones will be remembered and lives of others will be forever changed. The DUI Victim Center of Kansas has established criteria for scholarship as follows: - Family or surviving victims will be involved in the personalized process of scholarship development.
- Scholarship awards will be made based on the interest earned from the base amount of the contribution
- Base may be increased by ongoing, specified contribution to the scholarship fund thus increasing amount of annual scholarship distribution.
- Scholarships are developed through meetings with the agency President/CEO, Advisory Committee and presented to the Board of Directors for approval.
- The established base gift to begin scholarship development is $10,000.
- Individuals, businesses, churches may establish scholarship - any entity interested in the "Gift of Remembrance" to improve our community.
- Scholarship may be established for those injured or killed by drunk or impaired drivers.
"...as in ancient cultured, there is a close connection between someone's soul and his name. His personality, with his peculiarities and its energy, is in some sense present in his name. To know a person's name is to gain an insight into his nature, and thereby to acquire a relationship with him..."(The Power of the Name, Bishop Kallistos (Ware)). We see individuals' names everywhere - on schools, roads, office buildings, businesses, books, movie theaters, and business cards - everywhere. By establishing a personal "Gift of Remembrance", you not only maintain the name - you maintain the person, the lifestyle and the dreams. A "Gift of Remembrance" provides you the opportunity to improve the lives of others and to follow how those lives are changed by your gift.
