There are usually 2 annual fundraisers and the Annual Candlelight Vigil of Remembrance and Hope for victims and their families. The fundraisers are scheduled in the Spring and Fall each year. The Annual Candlelight Vigil of Remembrance and Hope is during the first week of December. Volunteers are needed to register guests, help with set-up, work at the Country Store, greet guests and distribute programs - there are several different tasks for volunteers during the fundraisers. For those who like to do crafts, bake, can foods, etc., we always ask volunteers to donate items for the Country Store during the spring event. The fall event is a dinner and auction. Volunteers help with the auction items and as well as other needs described above. Helping with special events is open to all volunteers who regularly give their time and those who only want to be involved with the event. There is also a need for food items during scheduled DUI Check Points with local law enforcement. The agency sets up a table of food for the officers, deputies, and troopers working the Check Point. These are late night programs and go until sometimes 3:00 a.m. However, many volunteers enjoy being involved. They are able to observe first the actions of law enforcement. There are some very good stories from volunteers who have been with us on the DUI Check Point lanes. Law enforcement is always very appreciative of the food and interaction we provided.
