The DUI Victim Center of Kansas, in collaboration with Sedgwick County Community Policing, Donrey Advertising, Cities in Schools, and local businesses, sponsor the contest. This program serves as an awareness event for area at-risk youth. Students are given the opportunity to submit an original design expressing their views on the negative impact of substance use and abuse - particularly drinking and driving. Advisory Committee members and staff judge the entries on what best represents the criteria. The 1st place poster will be reproduced for display on five large billboards throughout Wichita during the Christmas and New Year holiday season. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners receive cash awards and recognition with their families during a special event. All students who participate receive a small gift in appreciation of their efforts. |
